Access

The rapidly growing City of Columbia Falls needed a solution to allow their staff to access as-built plans from anywhere at any time.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, the City of Columbia Falls contracted with Global Archives to scan and create a document library of all 4000 of their as-built infrastructure and development drawings.  Placed in properly-sized boxes the documents were moved to GA’s facility where they were scanned on the Context IQ Series scanner and then upload to Global Archive’s secure LockBox data storage application. Once every quarter Global Archives picks up new as-built drawings from the City Office and adds them to the online library for ease of use and exceptional organization.

Space

The City of Columbia Falls also needed to reclaim space in their offices that was quickly being overtaken by an ever-increasing number of blueprints and other large engineering documents. The demand for engineering services in the fast-growing community was creating a need for more space.

The creation of this online library of historical documents had the added benefit of freeing up over 100 sq. ft. in Columbia Falls’ busy city hall, allowing for more productive use of limited office space.

Security

Columbia Falls’ Planning and Building Department’s engineers and staff are now able to access the as-built drawings of city development projects from their home computers or laptops.

Each employee received a password for the Global Archives’ LockBox online dashboard application and basic training which allows them to access these oversized documents anytime, anywhere. Once the documents were scanned, they were carefully stored in our climate controlled storage space in properly-sized boxes and can be retrieved at anytime if staff requires them.
